entre aquí y allá
Alexander Gray Associates
New York, NY

September 8 - October 15, 2022

Ronny Quevedo: entre aquí y allá at Alexander Gray Associates presents a new sculpture and works on muslin and paper that explore migration, identity, and cartography. Through compositions that utilize dressmaking materials to abstract the globe, the artist synthesizes alternative forms of mapping. Conflating measurements of the body and of the natural world, this new work delineates metaphorical spaces that embody new identities, fluid and shaped by location, and challenges fixed perspectives and binary oppositions. 37th between 6th and 7th (2022) and el guarda meta de los cosmos (from the abyss) (2022) break down traditional structures, symbolizing the shifting, multiplicative nature of identity and the complex geopolitical movements of migrant and communities of color.
